Greetings to my fellow FAHS grads. It's wonderful to see that so many of us continue to serve the nation in this conflict. I am back in Iraq for my third OIF tour (second in Iraq). I'm stationed in Tallil where I command the 27th Brigade Support Battalion "Rough Riders" of the 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. My family is in the Fort Hood, TX area. Mark Simerly, Class of '80.
14 May 2008 Hi.My name is Randy A.Dickover,I attanded FAHS 72,73 and part of1974.Just wanted to send some Springs greetings to you'all. As might be expected,it has been a wild ride for me. I turned out to be one heck of a paratrooper and had more close one's than I can remember.I saw duty twice in Afghanistan (with Special Forces),Hurricane Katrina (S.F.),Los Angles Riot (M.P.),Desert Storm (M.P.) and the Mexican Border Operation (M.P.).Frankfurt High chicks rule I had always wanted to marry one! In my sleep,I dream about the girls that I knew and remember how dearly I loved (love) them.I believe that the time spent with extraordinary friends gave me the strenght to stand in front of bullets on several occasions.Fortunately, the bullets missed.Have to go. Lots of love,Randy.
I'm Ray Lehman, Jr, FAHS Class of 1974, and I want to send my BEST WISHES to my nephew and his shipmates on their way to the Persian Gulf as I write this: Lt. (J.g.). David A. Hoopengardner, Jr. We all support you and pray for you regularly! Love, Uncle Ray
Hi ya'll. My name is Hal Abbenhaus and I'm in the 1978 yearbook. I played b-ball and ran cross country and kind of hung out my two years (1977-78) at FAHS. It has been a pleasure over the many years to look at this website and catch up from afar. I actually have run into a number of FAHS folks over the years, the latest being Gus Norvell a few years ago. I'm still in the Army and a LTC stationed in St. Louis at the Army Records Center. Many, many great Army experiences over the years including some great tours in various theaters. I'm married and have three great kids. If anyone remembers me and wants to get in touch pls email at harald.abbenhaus@us.army.mil. Cheers!
I am looking for Scott Hopper that went to FAHS from the years 1991 to 1994. He posted on the old guestbook and hopefully someone will see this that knows him. email at blushingbuff2@yahoo.com God bless all of you who serve our country! Thanks Jen

It is with great sadness that I tell you that Stan Morgan, class of 75, has passed on. It happened 12 Oct 07 and was unexpected. He and I were on our way to Germany 25 Oct 07 for vacation to visit the old haunts which compounds this even more. He was so excited about it. I love him and miss him terribly. Please visit and sign his on-line guestbook at http://obits.al.com/mobile/GB/GuestbookView.aspx?PersonId=96364244 Pass on some of those wonderful moments with Stan. Teri Lowry, roverroams@yahoo.com

Mr. Hamilton, Please email me at prez(@)fahs.org and I will answer any information request about FAHS; if I am able. We sincerely appreciate your service to Country and are thrilled that you are a grad of FAHS through the Darmstadt Adult Education program. Please visit the website at www.fahs.org for more information and to be a part of the community. You are more than welcome. Dennis Prez
I have asked for information about FAHS with no response. I graduated from the school in Darmstadt as an 18 year old soldier in '76. I was in the field often as a Combat Engineer while many of you were in housing and just being teenagers. More power to you, but, you have some alumni that weren't in your classrooms. Jim Hamilton 547th Cmbt Engr Battallion, '74-'76.
Hi I am from down under in beautiful Australia - does anyone want to converse? I do not envy what you are all doing and hope you all remain healthy and safe.....and try to keep smiling.....

LTC Bill Grimes, Bill, Are you still in theater? I just arrived back in country for another tour. I'll be here for a year this time around. Just finished a fellowship at Harvard and payback is a remote. Can't complain, its my first 06 command tour, but a year away from the family will be tough. Ran into Kevin Mangumn the other day (class of 78). We work within the same task organization and had never met before. Small world, our parents live just around the corner from eachother. I have some of his folks in my joint organization. Take care and hope to hear from you soon. Stephen Stephen A. Clark, Col, USAF CJSOAC/CC
Thanks to all our service men and women serving their country. ~pix

I wish to apologise for the term "Test Dummies". after reading my comments, I realized that such a term is an insult to the Kurdish people, which is not my intent. The Kurds, like our troops, have been through enough without having to deal with a misunderstanding such as this. Again, I apologise!! Sincerely, Robert Smith, FAHS '80
Half assed intel was the reason for this conflict, but, that doesn't mean that it wasn't justified. "Sodamned Insane" is on trial, and now that the Kurds aren't the test dummies for chemical weapons, when Saddam is found guilty, the Kurds can have him, and his "Good Ol' Boys" club, for a little pay-back!! I want to send a special "Thank You!" to all those still in uniform, and out, finishing the business at hand in Iraq, and, I hope, helping with the possibility of having another ally to the west in the middle east. For those who were sent, but, didn't come home.... my thanks for the mission completed, and bless you for your service. Just so you know, ths nation does have people, unfortunately, many in positions of power, who take it for granted. A term I have heard, to describe our military and civilian personnel, which makes me very angry, is "Expendable Assets". A phrase, putting us in the same catagory as toilet-paper or chewing gum. Needed for a time, used thuroughly, then tossed!! Unfortunately Governent and Big Business are using that term, in word and practice, much too often.... Our people ARE "assets", without them this nation would have died out long ago. Adding "Expendable" just shows how lacking in respect these sacks of cow-pies really are!! Again, to all our people, in and out of uniform. Thanks for a job well done. Come home soon, safe!! Robert Smith, FAHS class of 1980

Twas the night before Christmas And all through our house Not a noise was stirring, not even a click of the mouse I lay in my bed alone fast asleep When I heard pitter-patter the sound Of soft feet I opened my eyes and what should appear An Angel before me whispering in my ear Don’t be frightened, don’t be afraid I come in peace I come to help you pray I heard your husband had to go far away Across the ocean to keep us free to fight a battle for you and me Christ gave me permission to grant you a wish And with that I heard her angel wings swish What is it my child, what you would like What is your fear, what is your plight I answered the angel please ask the lord For my husband not to be at war For my husband to not to have to fight For him to come home so we are not alone To protect my husband and keep him safe, for him to find a quiet place Where he can remember the smiles on our face And feel the love we have for him in our heart While we are so far apart The Angel then sat down by my side Held my hand gently and then to my surprise she replied A part of your wish has already been granted You were given a seed and it has been planted Christ has heard you all along He sent me to remind you Remember to believe, remain strong and guide you There is no greater gift then love It is a gift given to you long ago from above Now my child together we will pray That your husband out of harms way he will stay That the love you share inside he will feel with great pride That his going is not in vain, that you will have the strength to deal with the pain That he returns safe and sound back to where great love was found Now our prayer has come to an end I must move on and help another friend Lay back down and rest your head fear has been replaced with great peace instead As swiftly as the angel appeared she now is gone A sense of peace overwhelms me - a sense of calm I close my eyes and quickly fall back asleep There isn’t a sound not even a peep Lisa Sury 12/14/05 This was written by my friend Lisa Shannon Sury for her husband Mark who was deployed to Iraq last month. Although Lisa attended a German school, she was friends with many FAHS students from 79-82. Hope you enjoy it. Angie Coville Lattuca '80

Welcome Stephen Clark '82, we are happy to have you here. We will be glad when you come home. There are mini-reunions and gatherings all the time, so hopefully we can get you to one soon. Please stay in touch. Lee Ann (pixie) McPherson '75
Just found this site a few months ago with the help of CMSGT Fields (77 I believe). We were working together in the Special Operations Air Command center (CJSOAC for you doctrine folks). Really enjoy seeing pictures of everyone. Unfortunately I haven't been able to attend any of the reunions. Maybe one of these summers when I'm not deployed. I'm currently the commander of the 4 Special Operations Squadron flying the AC-130U. Been back and forth for the last three years. I enjoyed reading Maj Gen Chiarelli comments below. We spent many a nights supporting his units. Very gracious gentleman. Finishing up my last deployment for a while as I am leaving command in July. Take care everyone and god bless your service. Stephen Clark (82)
Thanks for the useful site. Keep up the good work. God bless you and keep you.
Hey Gene Teasley, nice to see you posting. Hope you're well. My knee still hurts, by the way. :-) Robert Reich '84 (but moved before graduation)
>Subject: Fw: [VHFCN] Real news from Iraq > >Went to an AUSA dinner last night at the Ft. Hood Officers' Club to hear >a speech by MG Pete Chiarelli, CG of the 1st Cav Div. He and most of the >Div. have just returned from Iraq. Very informative and, surprise, the >Mainstream Media (MSM) isn't telling the story. I was not there as a >reporter, didn't take notes but I'll make some the points I remember that >were interesting, surprising or generally stuff I had not heard before. It >was not a speech per se. He just walked and talked, showed some slides and >answered questions. Very impressive guy. > >1. While units of the Cav served all over Iraq, he spoke mostly of >Baghdad and more specifically Sadr City, the big slum on the eastern side >of the Tigris River. He pointed out that Baghdad is, in geography, about >the >size of Austin. Austin has 600,000 to 700,000 people. Baghdad has 6 to7 >million people. > >2. The Cav lost 28 main battle tanks. He said one of the big lessons >learned is that, contrary to doctrine going in, M1-A2s and Bradley's are >needed, preferred and devastating in urban combat and he is going to >make that point to the JCS next week while they are considering downsizing >armor. > >3. He showed a graph of attacks in Sadr City by month. Last Aug-Sep >they were getting up to 160 attacks per week. During the last three >months, >the graph had flatlined at below 5 to zero per week. > >4. His big point was not that they were "winning battles" to do this >but that cleaning the place up, electricity, sewage, water were the key >factors. He said yes they fought but after they started delivering >services that >the Iraqis in Sadr City had never had, the terrorist recruiting of 15 and >16 >year olds came up empty. > >5. The electrical "grid" is a bad, deadly joke. Said that driving down >the >street in a Hummv with an antenna would short out a whole block of apt. >buildings. People do their own wiring and it was not uncommon for early >morning patrols to find one or two people lying dead in the street, having >been electrocuted trying to re-wire their own homes. > >6. Said that not tending to a dead body in the Muslum culture never >happens. On election day, after suicide bombers blew themselves up >trying to take out polling places, voters would step up to the body lying >there, spit on it, and move up in the line to vote. > >7. Pointed out that we all heard from the media about the 100 Iraqis >killed as they were lined up to enlist in the police and security service. >What the media didn't point out was that the next day there 300 lined up in >the same place. > >8. Said bin Laden and Zarqawi made a HUGE mistake when bin laden went >public with naming Zarqawi the "prince" of al Quaeda in Iraq. Said that >what the Iraqis saw and heard was a Saudi telling a Jordanian that his >job was to kill Iraqis. HUGE mistake. It was one of the biggest factors >in >getting Iraqis who were on the "fence" to jump off on the side of the >coalition and the new gov't. > >9. Said the MSM was making a big, and wrong, deal out of the religious >sects. Said Iraqis are incredibly nationalistic. They are Iraqis first >and then say they are Muslum but the Shi'a - Sunni thing is just not that >big a deal to them. > >10. After the election the Mayor of Baghdad told him that the people of >the >region (Middle East) are joyous and the governments are nervous. > >11. Said that he did not lose a single tanker truck carrying oil and gas >over the roads of Iraq. Think about that. All the attacks we saw on TV >with IEDs hitting trucks but he didn't lose one. Why? Army Aviation. >Praised his air units and said they made the decision early on that every >convoy would have helicopter air cover. Said aviators in that unit were >hitting the 1,000 hour mark (sound familiar?). Said a convoy was supposed >to head out but stopped at the gates of a compound on the command of an E6. > He asked the SSG what the hold up was. E6 said, "Air , sir." He >wondered what was wrong with the air, not realizing what the kid was >talking about. Then the AH-64s showed up and the E6 said, "That air sir." >And then moved out. > >12. Said one of the biggest problems was money and regs. There was a >$77 million gap between the supplemental budget and what he needed in cash >on the ground to get projects started. Said he spent most of his time >trying >to get money. Said he didn't do much as a "combat commander" because >the war he was fighting was a war at the squad and platoon level. Said >that >his NCOs were winning the war and it was a sight to behold. > >13. Said that of all the money appropriated for Iraq, not a cent was >earmarked for agriculture. Said that Iraq could feed itself completely and >still have food for export but no one thought about it. Said the Cav >started working with Texas A&M on ag projects and had special hybrid seeds >sent to them through Jordan. TAM analyzed soil samples and worked out how >and what to plant. Said he had an E7 from Belton, TX (just down the road >from Ft. Hood) who was almost single-handedly rebuilding the ag industry in >the Baghdad area. > >14. Said he could hire hundreds of Iraqis daily for $7 to $10 a day to >work >on sewer, electric, water projects, etc. but that the contracting rules >from >CONUS applied so he had to have $500,000 insurance policies in place in >case the workers got hurt. Not kidding. The CONUS peacetime regs slowed >everything down, even if they could eventually get waivers for the regs. > >There was more, lots more, but the idea is that you haven't heard any of >this from anyone, at least I hadn't and I pay more attention than most. >Great stuff. We should be proud. Said the Cav troops said it was ALL >worth it on Jan. 30 when they saw how the Iraqis handled Election Day. >Made them very proud of their service and what they had accomplished. >

Thanks for your great site! Keep going!
Hey Cliff, Pix, Patty, the Berwins Thanks for your support while I was over in Haji land and your concern when I was evac'd home, I know it may not seem like it, but it was very heart-felt, I'm just a shaved ape who grunts alot. I'm home and stationed at FT Gordon now awaiting my first surgery date and working Range Control here. Its not a bad job at all and I've been offered a permanent civilian position once I am retired. Anyway folks, you are wonderful and Cliff, beware of Hajis bearing Dinar. Eugene Teasley 85
Lisa, I wish I has taken some pictures of Jordan singing "Oh say can you see" to share with everyone, it was wonderful! ~pix
Pix.......Jordan is indeed a 'ham' :0) Every once in a while I have to slap myself and remember how young she is......gots her mommy's brains.....and her papa's ability to charm a bird out of a tree!
Sorry, I forgot. His name is Hector Phillip Martell.
HI, we'll need his name to be of any help.
I'm a soldier in Heidelberg, Germany. My dad was stationed in Germany through the mid to late 70s, and he told me that he got his high school diploma through an Army program at the time. The diploma says he graduated in 1976. I was recently looking at school registries to find my dad, and I found his name in the Frankfurt American High School. I'm looking for anyone who may have been in his class. I'd like to find pictures of him at the time. He would have been 19-21 through his time there, and graduated at 21. Anyone who could shine a little light on my dad's history would be very helpful and much appreciated. Please contact me at: Lawnmowerman2380@hotmail.com Thank you.
Cliff, I got to see them twice and finally met Jordan. The after dinner show the one night was precious!!! Jordan sang for us. Be safe and come home soon. ~~pix
Hey Tony.......long time no speak...what you been up to bud????
Pix, Thanks for the thoughts......Prez is to blame for the photos :0) I am so envioius that you got to hang out with Dennis and Lisa...
